Michiko Yao Born and raised in a dense, urban section of Osaka, Japan during the '60s and '70s where she experienced a time of Japanese identity crisis and the merging of Western and traditional Japanese culture. It was an environment that is reflected in her work and continues to fuel her interests.
Yao's mediums vary, from installation art to painting and sculpture. Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and is included in private collections from New York to Los Angeles, Yao was included in the 2005 issue 55 of New American Paintings. Yao currently lives in Los Angeles and studies at the California Institute of the Arts.
